Valentino Rossi , born 16 February 1979 in Urbino, Italy, is one of the most successful and recognizable motorcycle racers of all time. Known as Il Dottore and by his iconic number 46 , Rossi has left an indelible mark on the world of MotoGP . His impressive palmares include world championships in 125cc (1997, Aprilia ), 250cc (1999, Aprilia ), and 500cc / MotoGP ( Honda 2001, 2002 and 2003; Yamaha 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009). Throughout his career, he has amassed 115 Grand Prix wins, 235 podium finishes, 65 pole positions and 96 fastest laps. He competed for teams such as Aprilia (1996-1999), Honda (2000-2003), Yamaha (2004-2010, 2013-2021) and Ducati (2011-2012). After announcing his retirement from MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season, Rossi decided to continue his career in motorsport, joining the BMW team to compete in the WRT competition.
