Andreas Nikolaus Lauda was born in Vienna, Austria in 1949 and died in 2019, better known as Niki Lauda, he was an Austrian motorsport driver. He was Formula 1 World Champion in 1975, 1977 and 1984, runner-up in 1976 and fourth in 1974 and 1978. His first victory was at the 1974 Spanish Grand Prix, and his last at the 1985 Dutch Grand Prix.

Throughout his career in the "top category" he drove for the March, BRM, Ferrari, Brabham and McLaren teams, accumulating 25 victories and 54 podiums, in a total of 177 races. In 1976, Lauda suffered a serious accident at the German Grand Prix that left him with severe burns that left scars for life. Temporarily retired from racing, in 1978 he founded his own airline, Lauda Air. Debts and a long dispute with the Austrian Airlines company forced him to return to F1 in 1982. He retired permanently from competition in 1985. He then returned to found or buy aviation companies, including Niki. In addition, he commented on Formula 1 races for an Austro-German television channel and was an advisor and shareholder of the Mercedes Formula 1 team until shortly before his death, which occurred in 2019.
