Alejandro Márquez Alentà, better known as Álex Márquez, was born in Cervera, Lleida in 1996 and is a Spanish motorcycle rider who competes in the MotoGP category with Gresini Racing. He has won two Motorcycle World Championship titles (in Moto3 in 2014 and in Moto2 in 2019).

Between the 2012 and 2014 seasons he raced in the Moto3 category in the Estrella Galicia 0.0 team. In 2012 and 2013 he raced a KTM and in 2014 the team decided to switch to a Honda, with which they won the championship. His bib was number 12.

He has a brother three years older, Marc Márquez (b. 1993), who has won 8 Motorcycle World Championship titles and who competes in the MotoGP premier class. Álex and Marc are the only brothers to have won a Motorcycle World Championship, and also in the same season (in 2014 and 2019), along with having been the first brothers to win a Grand Prix on the same day (the June 15, 2014 at the Catalonia Motorcycle Grand Prix, at the Montmeló circuit, Spain) and those who have been on the podium the most times in the same Grand Prix.

In the 2023 season he races with the Gresini Racing Moto GP team.
