xtreme E is a category of electric off-road car competition, competing in extremely remote parts of the world, which have been affected by climate change, in an attempt to raise awareness about this issue.

It was founded by Formula E founder Alejandro Agag and former driver Gil de Ferran in 2018, with the inaugural season starting in 2021.

The car in the category is the ODYSSEY 21, developed by Spark Racing Technologies, with each participating brand developing its own powertrain. While Continental is the sole supplier of tires and Williams Advanced Engineering will provide the battery system.

The ODYSSEY 21 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.

All events will be held over three days. The route of the race will be organized by experts to minimize the environmental impact, and the stages will be between 6 and 10 km long. The schedule was made official on December 17, 2019.
