Danilo Carlo Petrucci was born in Terni, Italy in 1990 and is a professional motorcycle racer who currently competes in the MotoAmerica Superbike with the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC team.

Danilo Petrucci won the Italian Superstock Championship with Ducati in 2011 and finished as runner-up in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup that same year. His performances in Europe earned him the opportunity to work as a test rider for the Ducati Superbike program and from there the young Italian finally made the leap to the MotoGP World Championship in 2012 with the Ioda Racing Project's CRT project. The Ioda bike proved too slow during that season and the team switched to a Suter-BMW. Nonetheless, Petrucci showed some competitiveness and good form in his first year and continued with the team in 2013 leading the team project and scoring points in eleven races. For the 2014 season, his team began to use ART material with little time for training, then he suffered a wrist injury during the GP in Jerez, which limited his progress mid-season.

Even so, Petrucci continued to work to gain experience and earned a spot with the Pramac Racing team for the 2015 season.

On August 30, 2015, he achieved second place, his best position with a Ducati Pramac in the rain at the Silverstone circuit.

In the 2023 season he races with the Pramac Racing Ducati Moto GP team.
