Nikita Dmitrievich Mazepin was born in Moscow, Russia, in the year 1999 and is a Russian racing driver. He has competed in single-seaters since 2014, his best result being a runner-up in the GP3 Series. He was a Haas driver in Formula 1 in 2021 and early 2022, the year in which he was fired due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.1

Mazepin started his karting career in 2011. He did not achieve any titles, but he did achieve runner-up in the CIK-FIA World Championship in 2014, he was promoted to single-seater racing. He raced in the MRF Challenge, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and New Zealand Toyota Racing Series championship. In 2020, he moved to the Hitech Grand Prix team. He scored his first podium in the category at the Budapest feature race, and his first victory at the subsequent round. He had to wait until the Mugello round to return to victory.
