🛵 Vespa is an icon of design and urban mobility. Since its creation in 1946 by Piaggio , it has marked generations with its timeless style and innovation in scooters. More than just a means of transport, Vespa is synonymous with freedom, elegance, and adventure on two wheels. The presentation of the first Vespa scooters took place on April 23, 1946, at the Golf Club of Rome. The fathers of the new motorcycle were businessman Enrico Piaggio and aeronautical engineer Corradino D'Ascanio . The engineer, who liked airplanes more than motorcycles, designed a vehicle with a revolutionary appearance for its time: he placed the engine on the rear wheel and designed the front arm thinking of an airplane's landing gear. Legend has it that when Piaggio saw it, he exclaimed: Bello, mi sembra una vespa (Beautiful, reminds me of a wasp, in Italian), alluding to the shape of the vehicle: a thicker rear end connected to the front by a thin waist, and the handlebars like antennas, hence the name Vespa .
